Chongqing 2-3 Day Private Driver Itinerary: City Nights + Wulong Karst

8D city nights plus Wulong karst bridges, gorges and Dazu add-ons.

Chongqing 2-3 Day Private Driver Itinerary: City Nights + Wulong Karst

One night for the 8D city, one day for the karst wonders — Chongqing rewards those who stay. One private car and driver across your days here: the stairs-and-slopes city handled, the three-hour mountain roads to Wulong handled, and every evening ending somewhere worth photographing.

The core plan below is two days; a third adds UNESCO rock carvings or connects your Yangtze cruise. City-only in one day? See the Chongqing 1-day route.

Route Summary

  • Duration: 2–3 days, same car and driver throughout
  • Pickup: any Chongqing hotel, Jiangbei Airport (CKG) or the cruise terminal
  • Best for: photographers, nature lovers, cruise passengers, families
  • Vehicle: 5-seat sedan/SUV or 7–9 seat MPV
  • Price: quoted by days and route — send us your dates for a quote

Core Itinerary (2 Days)

Day 1 — The 8D city, scheduled backwards from night

Late-morning start: Ciqikou ancient town, a proper hotpot lunch (mild pot negotiable), the monorail through the building at Liziba, the Yangtze cableway across the river, a mountain-top panorama — and the crescendo: Hongya Cave lit up after dark, shot from Qiansimen Bridge. The full logic lives on our 1-day city page.

Day 2 — Wulong karst country

Three hours southeast into World Natural Heritage land: the Three Natural Bridges (Transformers 4 filmed under them), the Longshuixia Gorge‘s underground-style ravine, and mountain air a world away from the city. Full detail on our Wulong day trip page. Back for a final riverside dinner, or overnight in Wulong for the quiet.

Optional Modules

  • + Dazu Rock Carvings (1 day): a thousand years of Buddhist cliff sculpture, UNESCO-listed and criminally under-visited — 2 hours west.
  • + Yangtze cruise connection: we time the drop-off to boarding at Chaotianmen — many guests run this route as their pre-cruise days.
  • + Fairy Mountain add-on: alpine meadows above Wulong; in summer it’s Chongqing’s escape from the heat, in winter a snow park.

Why This City Needs a Driver More Than Most

Chongqing is built on cliffs: “walking distance” routinely means 200 stairs, taxis refuse the old-town lanes at rush hour, and ride-hailing queues at Hongya Cave after the lights come on are legendary. A private car — parked where drivers know the tricks — turns the world’s most vertical big city into an easy one. And Wulong has no practical rail option at all: it’s a driver’s destination, full stop.

What’s Included / Not Included

Included: vehicle + driver for all days, fuel, tolls, parking, driver’s meals (and lodging on Wulong overnights).

Not included: your hotel, attraction tickets and meals. Wulong uses timed park tickets and internal shuttles — we book them so you walk straight in.

Practical Tips & FAQ

Best season?

March–May and September–November are prime. Summer is famously hot (“one of China’s three furnaces”) — we flip the schedule toward mornings and nights, when the city is at its best anyway. Winter is misty and moody, and the hotpot tastes twice as good.

How much walking is involved?

The city day alternates short walks with car resets; Wulong involves 2–3 hours of boardwalk with escalators and shuttles covering the steepest parts. Tell us about knees and strollers — both days shape well around them.

We finish a Yangtze cruise here — does this work in reverse?

Perfectly: we collect you at the terminal with your luggage, run the route, and end at the airport or rail station.
